Santhosh and Naina are advertising professionals. While Santhosh gets offers for his company through smart work and shortcuts, Naina believes hard work gets everything. An altercation leads to the two ending up rivals. A fictional product, an Italian sojourn and love come between their rivalry.
Director Prashant Raj is known for glossy, urban films. This time around, he has chosen to make a film set in the backdrop of the advertising industry. Just when you thought there’s something innovative, you chance upon the synopsis of a 1961 Hollywood romcom Lover Come Back that is identical. The original was a hit with the audience. When the director chose to remake the film that was well under two hours, the Kannada audience ended up getting a film that was 50 minutes longer, replete with double entendre jokes, songs, fights and more masala.
Had the director, whose films are known to click with the urban youth, chosen to tell the original tale as is, with the few mandatory songs, the film might have worked better. But, the street smart and shrewd ad professional is shown to be the typical ‘mass’ hero here as well. This really wasn’t required.
Though, the film makes for a one-time watch, because of the glossy visuals captured by Santhosh Rai Pathaje that are stunning and the chemistry between first-time pairing Ganeshand Radhika Pandit. The lead actors give the film their best, but the extended screenplay that shifts focus between the fun cat and mouse game between the lead pair leaves one wishing the film was shorter.
